In other words, the development of thrombosis may be indicative of an activated coagulation system that is affecting the tumor itself. To that end, it is possible that anticoagulants may play a role in affecting the outcomes in cancer patients and that low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) may influence survival in patients with malignant disease.
